SHORT DESCRIPTION a short-tailed black they-cat with yellow eyes NAME MEANING bat- indicates the dark coloration of their fur -paw indicates their rank as an apprentice APPEARANCE batpaw is of approximately average size for a cat of their age. with their slender build, they may be viewed as petite, but their long bony legs give them height and a gangly awkwardness. when they move, their stride is long, but their gait is jerky and they very much lack gracefulness. batpaw was born with only a partial tail, a little less than half the length of a normal cat's, and this affects their balance and helps to explain the relative lack of fluidity in their movements. their short fur is uniform black in color. the skin on their nose and paw pads is black as well. their pelt is well-kempt and usually neat, but it is coarse and dry to the touch. they have wide yellow eyes set in a narrow face. their ears are notably large. their whiskers are long and expressive. batpaw prefers to use body language to communicate whenever possible; they can speak if necessary, of course, but their voice is soft and hoarse and they often struggle to be heard. their clanmates describe their scent as clean. though they are not a medicine cat, the smell of herbs usually clings faintly to their pelt. PERSONALITY keen; batpaw has very strong senses and, when they are paying attention, they are often very aware of the world around them. they are skilled at tracking and locating hidden things. this is the skill they are best known for. patient; batpaw is never one to rush into things or rush others. they prefer to think things through before acting. because of this they are sometimes seen as lazy, but all in all this trait serves them well. curious; batpaw wants to understand the world around them, and they often go exploring. they seem to never tire of new knowledge. they delight in learning new things. though they are not a medicine cat, they are very interested in the properties of herbs and may discover new ways to heal ailments. faithful; while batpaw doesn't believe that starclan has a strong impact on the physical world, they would never speak ill of the dead or blame starclan when things go wrong. they refer to their starry ancestors only with awe and reverence. honest; unless they had promised to keep a secret, batpaw would never tell a lie. when asked a question about anything, they will respond truthfully, unless an oath prevents them from doing so. they will not lie in situations where they are unable to be truthful, and instead they will say that they aren't permitted to talk about that subject. gentle; batpaw tries to avoid hurting others, either physically or mentally, at all costs. they would never knowingly say something harsh. they do not very much enjoy battle, although they don't mind killing prey, as long as they remember to thank starclan and the prey itself for its life. easily awed; simple things, such as a river or a smooth pebble or an unusual leaf, can easily capture batpaw's attention. they are constantly fascinated by the world. the richness and vastness of nature, and the very fact that they are alive, never ceases to amaze them. quiet; batpaw doesn't speak much, because they feel that they don't have anything important to contribute. they would much rather watch silently than participate in conversation. because of this, they are more aware of what's going on, but since they aren't doing much they are also likely to begin daydreaming. meek; batpaw is easily intimidated by others, and also easily deterred if they find something about a task daunting. they are hesitant to ask others questions even when it might be important. this deters their curiosity, and they would know a lot more if they weren't so afraid to talk to others. gullible; batpaw's social awareness is not very strong. they tend to believe others without question, and think that everyone must have pure intentions, and so they don't critically consider the words of others. they are easily fooled and manipulated. materialistic; because their environment and the physical world interests them so, batpaw tends to judge success or failure solely based on whether or not their actions have a noticeable impact on their surroundings. they also collect rocks, shells, feathers, plants, and anything else they find interesting - which is quite a lot, so their collection is very large. sometimes they're more focused on this collection than their duties. all of the items in their collection are very important to them, and they are apt to be devastated if something happens to one of their many prized possessions. dreamy; batpaw tends to drift into their own world at times and get lost in their thoughts, especially when they have nothing else to do. this can distract them from whatever the task at hand (paw?) is. it takes them some time to come back to reality and full focus on whatever they are supposed to be doing. lacking confidence; batpaw doesn't have very much trust in their own skills, and they often go into a task expecting to fail. when things become hard, they are apt to give up. this is obviously severely detrimental, and it is the most important thing they need to work on to improve personally and become more helpful to their clanmates. HISTORY this should be in-depth and above all make sense! a paragraph style history is encouraged, but if you prefer listing it, that works as well. make sure to include as much information as makes sense for your cat's rank - an apprentice might not have a very long history, but an elder should have a considerable one! remember that in treeclan, warrior names are earned by proving yourself, not just by reaching six moons of training; if you are making a treeclan warrior, be sure to mention how they did so and when! | ||||||
