GENERAL INFO
- Long ago, RockClan was founded by a loner named Romy, who would later adopt the name of Rockstar.
- Their territory is mostly hills with less trees, sometimes with sharp or even steep cliffsides, and littered with the occasional boulder or rock. It is split by a large river which goes through the camp and eventually becomes part of the TreeClan border.
- They generally hunt fish, voles, rabbits, and water voles.
- They are used to using their stamina for hunting, whether through relentlessly chasing down rabbits or in keeping totally still to snag a fish. They place more emphasis on building this stamina through fighting, as they face more threats from other cats than TreeClan does, since they share a border with the often hostile city cats.
- Being closer to Twoleg influence, they are typically much less fearful of them.
CULTURAL STRUCTURE
- On the whole, RockClan has a stronger influence on the Clan itself being family, and less on blood relation mattering so much. Everyone in RockClan is supposed to be kin of a sort, regardless of whichever bloodline you've come from.
- They generally have a less strict naming system, and may even incorporate kittypet words into their naming from time to time, granted that the cat doing the naming has kittypet heritage.
- They are usually much more accepting of kittypets - seeing the stark contrast between those eager to learn and join the Clan and the sometimes overly harsh city cats they often fight with.
- RockClan has a complex system of sign language, and is more likely to rely on signals and body language during patrols and battle, as opposed to verbal commands. Details on this method of sign language can be found here.
-RockClan places much more emphasis on every cat being important to the Clan just through existing, and every Clanmate being equally significant to the Clan's workings.
HIERARCHY AND CLAN RANKS
-Apprentices almost always receive their warrior names after the standard six moons of training, provided they have not fallen behind or proven themselves unworthy in any clear way. No 'proving themselves' is needed beyond simply showing themselves to be an adequate student for those six moons of training. There is usually little to no delay once the six moon mark has been reached.
-Roles of authority are meant to help and listen to their Clanmates; they generally have stronger ideals regarding authority always taking into account their Clan's wants and feelings regarding their decisions (every decision an authority figure makes can be called into question by any cat, because every member of the Clan is important, not just the Clan council.)
-Elders serve as more of a 'council' for the Clan once they retire, instead of simply sleeping their days away. Members of the Clan, including the medicine cat, deputy and leader, often look to their seniors for guidance in many things. They are expected to remain active with current affairs and offer their wisdom whenever necessary. Most elders attend the Gathering every full moon.
-In the case of cat proving themselves to be especially praiseworthy or heroic, they may be given a rename as a reward of sorts, with the new suffix of -sun, -moon, -light, or -spirit.
